The new Library of Birmingham due to open its doors on 3rd September and is set to attract over 3.5 million visitors each year. Situated over-looking Centenary Square the building was designed by architects Mecanoo.
From the outside it looks magnificent and architecturally stunning, on the inside, an element of calm, inspiration and enjoyment filter through. Whilst the building has been designed with books still at its core, Sarah Rowell, the library’s marketing chief told the BBC:
“We want to get over the notion that libraries are quiet places where you’ll be shushed if you raise your voice … there’s room for activity, noise, joining-in and getting together with friends.”
So whilst this library may inspire students and residents of Birmingham – does your building inspire your team and staff?
In a lot of offices it’s about ‘getting the job done’, but workplaces should also inspire and allow staff to learn and progress. If you want to find your perfect space, let us know.
